French Doors

Internal French Doors, with a choice of timber and glazing door options.

Before choosing Internal French Doors or Door Pairs it is important to carefully consider the height and width of the opening to be fitted. When creating a new opening from scratch, it is prudent to consider the standard height of doors plus frames and door sets before building work is started in order to create a neat fit. If an existing opening or previous set is being replaced then additional work may be necessary to either alter the opening or create a fanlight above the doors if the height is much greater than the doors. Timbers used for interior quality are often in Pine, Oak, or White Moulded some are pre-finished others ready to finish with your own choice. Pre- made French door sets are usually a standard 36, 42, 46, 48, 54 and 60 inches (see metric converter), and can be 35mm, 40mm and 44mm thick, dependent on the manufacturer. The new ranges of Boston and Mega French doors are supplied in pre-finished Oak, in a large range of sizes and have frames included in the sets. These sets match the internal doors in these styles. If the sets available are not appropriate, or you prefer a different style then another option is to use our standard interior doors that offer sizes ranging from 24, 27, 30 and 33 inches used as a non-rebated set or you could have these doors rebated by competent person (if the door has a thick enough lipping) to create a set with appropriate frames and architrave.
